India’s public broadcaster Doordarshan has generated 736 million Rupees ($14m) by auctioning off 29 transmission slots on its digital terrestrial service, DD Direct Plus.
The amounts generated are some three times higher than a previous auction which sold off 21 channels for a total of 168 million Rupees.
It is now reported that Doordarshan will sell off another 87 channels as it raises its overall transmission capacity from 59 channels to nearer 150 channnels.
