Pradeep Tomar / New Delhi / DTH News Blog : In India, Cable and DTH industry is in booming mode. When you will check past year data about cable connection or DTH connection then you will that how much growth in this industry. Today if anybody has Television at home, then I am sure they trying to approach for Cable TV or DTH connection.
But this industry is facing so many problems due to some systematic problems and paying heavy taxes. It is suffering from service tax, entertainment tax & import duties on set-top boxes, LNB, Dish Antenna and other equipment and now service tax increased to 14%.
There is no doubt that Cable TV and DTH industry giving significantly employment from big companies to one installer. (Installer means who install DTH and Cable TV). So we should not ignore this industry as it is participating in economy growth of India.
India's honourable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi started "Make in India" program, so many of companies thinking for manufacture Set-Top box and DTH accessories in India. But problem starts from where we get motherboard equipments. Personally I cannot find some motherboard or card equipments in all markets. I think we have to start from alphabets to speak language of “Make in India”.
Well, in budget 2015, I was also expecting in tax reductions but due to GST, government taken a hard decision. According to me, this decision may be hard but not wrong. :-) but Cable & DTH industry does not deserve heavy taxation like this.
So let’s see what happens in near future for Cable and DTH industry, I think government should recognise it for growth of digital India.
